USING BACKLINKS FOR SEO

USING BACKLINKS FOR SEO

All webmasters should be using backlinks for SEO purposes. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it’s what marketers use to rank their sites. In this post I’m going to cover a few new techniques on using backlinks for SEO. This post follows on from the How To Backlink Your Website post that I published earlier.
Linkwheels – what is a linkwheel? DO they work and how do you make one? A linkwheel is a list of sites that is linking to your money site ( your main website ). The trick here is that each of these sites has two links – one pointing to your money site and one pointing to the next site on your linkwheel ( a different external site ).
Free blog sites are great when it comes to using backlinks for SEO. Below is a diagram example of how a linkwheel works using these free blog sites:

You can use this method with any external site that allows you to use backlinks, not just the free blog sites mentioned above.
When using backlinks for SEO it is important to know what your competitors have got. For this I use a site called Majestic SEO. Simply type in the URL of your competitor and with a click of a button you are shown every external site that they are receiving a backlink from. I guarantee you that over 50% of the popular website’s backlinks are coming from blog commenting so get out there and comment on the same blogs ( if possible ).
If you have visited my site before you are probably familiar with the term ‘social bookmarking’. Each social bookmark will act as a backlink to your website. Whenever you write an new blog post the first thing you should do is bookmark it. Two of the more popular bookmarking sites are Digg.com and Stumbleupon.com. Both are free to join and to use.
Social Bookmarking sites generally have a high PR rank. PR stands for page rank and is rated from 0 to 10 ( the most popular ). As an example – Google.com has a PR of 10 ( no surprise there really! ). The higher the PR of the site you are getting backlinks from the stronger the backlink.
All your niche competitors are using backlinks for SEO purposes so it’s important you keep on building yours. If you do not rank high in the search engine results you will see very little traffic coming your way.
