OVERWHELMED WITH ONLINE MARKETING?

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed with online marketing? Are your efforts getting you absolutely nowhere? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there and it is a natural part of starting off your business online. How many visitors do you think this site got in the first month of it’s life? Not many – believe me!
This post today is designed to give you a little direction in your efforts if you are finding the going to tough. We will be covering a few of the pitfalls I fell into and how to hopefully avoid them.

OVERWHELMED WITH ONLINE MARKETING?

So you are feeling overwhelmed with online marketing?
Not a nice feeling I know but this could be down to a number of reasons. First of all what niche are you trying to promote. For those of you familiar with this site you will know that I always recommend picking a niche that is close to your heart, something you are interested in.
But there are niche sectors I like and niche sectors I would advise to avoid. The niche sectors I feel have a lot of promise are as follows:
Geek And Nerd Stuff
Yes you read it correctly – stuff people who live in there parents attic collect. Hobbies are a powerful niche these days. I myself collect Star Wars toys and I their price is continually rising.
Accessories
Accessories to modern day gadgets always seem to do well – Kindle covers, Android phone covers etc etc.

Kids Toys
This one’s for all you fellow parents out there. Kids toys that are based on popular Cartoon Network programs or Hollywood films can sky rocket through the roof in a very short space of time – always worth keeping this niche in mind.

Baby Products
This can be a very lucrative niche if you pick the right item. Prams, strollers and even designer outfits – all very popular.

Holiday Gear
No, I don’t mean swimming trunks or sun cream. The holidays I am looking at here are Halloween, Christmas etc etc. Costumes can be a big and powerful niche at certain times of the year.

The following are sectors I was taught to avoid. This is not a rule of thumb it is just advice. You may well become very successful at promoting these niches but personally I would stay clear:
That Forex Business!
We’ve all seen it advertised and are constantly told how easy it is but at the end of the day it’s a game of blackjack ( in my opinion ). I do not know enough about it and I doubt I ever will know enough about it to give advice or promote.

Adult Content
We all know what I mean here! Firstly it is all over the web for free and secondly a lot of parental controls will stop this content from ranking or showing up in browsers. Not for me and never will be for me – you must be very careful if you decide to promote this niche.

Fast action products
By this I mean any sort of product that promises to solve a problem in a short space of time. This can relate to fast diet products or build muscle products – these types of things have a very high refund rate.

Still feeling overwhelmed with online marketing? Find a decent keyword!
Lets have a look at what makes a kick ass keyword – something every marketer needs to be successful in this business. The most obvious point here is to make sure the keyword is relevant to your niche. A lot of newbies get overwhelmed with online marketing because they are constantly making use of the wrong types of keyword or trying to be to diverse with them.
As far as search volumes go it’s usually down to personal opinion. I was taught to go for 400+ searches a month but I usually settle for a lot less if I find a keyword that is easy to fit into my content.
The quoted search result ( the competition ) of the keyword should be under 350. Obviously the lower this number the better really.
If you are overwhelmed with online marketing keywords then ask yourself this question – Does the keyword solve a problem? If so then you should have no problem attracting traffic through using it. Also, does the keyword teach something – How To, Learn How To etc etc. Both are indications of a strong keyword.
The start is more important than the end!
Many people feel overwhelmed with online marketing because they neglect to realize this. When you are starting out with a niche or keyword research do not rush it – I know how exciting it is to get going.
By using the pointers above as a newbie’s guideline you can avoid being overwhelmed with online marketing and find a little ( or a lot ) of success along the way.
